I'm seriously gat vol of these ****ing insurance sales calls. Now they are SMSing everyone saying they will "call in 24 hours"

What the **** is wrong with these people? It's illegal! When they phoned the last time I didnt tell them anything, waited for the slut to give her preprogrammed sales pitch and then demanded to know where they got my phone number. They then claimed some company "DataCell" - which to my research does not exist.

Today on recieving an SMS from the same tards (from some 0820070 number) I phoned vodacom and queried them about it - however they claim there is nothing they can do because "08200 numbers are internet SMS's"

Is anyone else getting this crap, and what can we do about it?

I get the same crap, when they start I just scream "**** OFF" in my loudest voice and put the phone down.

Dont get as many calls anymore, guess they are learning.

No no, by all means they can keep me on their list.

It's bull$hit!$!@#!@# that we have to run around to them to get our selves removed, I dont want to be on the thing from the FIRST place! There have to be severe repercusions for these people, or else it will never end.

Some classic comebacks to use on these jokers.
1. Start behaving as if you're having phone s3x
2. Start discussing the contract killing that the person phoning you has taken out on their boss (the calls are all recorded)

Most the companies that phoned me told me that they have a database with "all valid cellphone numbers in the country" when I asked how they got my number. If that is true, and I doubt it, then they must have gotten the numbers from the cell network operators. Just go to show, this country is all about your "rights" but in truth nobody gives a damn.

It's easy to acquire valid cell phone numbers. A company can buy bulk sms for something like 10c per sms and send an sms to all possible numbers. Those that are delivered are valid.

Aren't there handsets available where you can block sms coming from these "marketers?".

Wicked ajax. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than actually paying for the list.
Thanks for the idea.
Spam coming to you sooooooon...
Spam blocker coming to a cellphone sooooooooon...

I used to work in a call centre and do this type of thing ... you people are NOT the customers we like ;) We hate it just as much you do ...

Thing is, we get a script that says 'when the client asks about our details, tell him xyz'. We actually have NO idea of xyz other than what we have been told. Very often we haven't heard of it ourselves.

When I get those calls, I simply let them say the speech, and tell them nicely I'm not interested. I know what it feels like if they swear at you.

I say we all swear like freaking bastards when we get calls like that until the poor buggers doing the work refuse to do them anymore.

/Me wonders exactly what call centre-work the governmint is trying to attract to SA ?

I agree, I am tired of people looking up my number in the telephone directory and calling me wanting to sell me roof tiles or paint my house. I know this is for cell phones but here is the solution for land lines. Get another land line and make sure it is listed first in the telephone directory. They always think the second one is the fax/Internet line. Have not had problems in a while.

A problem I have is I recieve explicit messages from some number similar to this 35050 crap, anyone know who this is or how to stop it. AND NO I DIDN'T SMS THEM

One of you mates coulda done it.
a guy I know went out with one of his friends and phoned a very important client of his at 3 in the morning telling her that he loves her ect.
The guy nearly got fired from his job for what my mate did and the woman started a court case. (Crimen injuria I think)

No chance I am the only one who ever uses my phone and none of my friends would be able to use it.
