Cellphones from Takealot

Anybody buy a phone from takealot? How is their warranty/support?
I believe they have a 1 year warranty, but how helpful are they, and how painful is the process?

Also looking at Orange, so the same information would be helpful.

I have bought one before . Never had to return one yet.

There return department is quick ,they normally send courier to collect the item ,and send you new one free of charge. New one is send after they do the testing etc

They are Vodacom branded. So if you're expecting a clean phone, rather buy from Orange.

The process is painful at orange I've been told minimum one month waiting time as they need to send it back to UK.

Atleast with takealot you know they local and warranty was easy in my past experience albeit not with a cellphone.

I've actually had very good support from takealot, not for a phone though, but I bought a leappad which gave problems and they replaced it with a new one
 
I've had very good support from takealot in the past so I'm more willing to go with them. I don't think the vodacom branded phone will be much of an issue really. As long as it works on all networks.

It really isnt that risky.

I will only buy the following brands from orange cos i consider them reliable and low risk:

Motorola
Samsung
LG
Nokia
Meizu

Brands that i consider high risk or are known to have issues:

Htc
Sony
Any Nexus device (the first batch at launch always has issues)


I have noticed that Samsung and Huawei are priced similarly on orange and from local stores,so i would just buy them locally.

+1 for high risk concerning Sony. I had 2 (m and z) which both broke. The charging port on those are shoddy quality.

Also with Samsung, they are like tanks. Had S2 that lasted 3 years of heavy use and I still sold it for 2nd without issues.
