haha.... ICASA is worse than a bloody joke. They are in fact a swear word.

Hands up, any consumers in SA who love ICASA and are happy with what they have done for you?

These guys are as useful as a hot air balloon on the moon.

Im not really surprised. I kinda expected a fsckup from ICASA on this issue.
Wonder if this will have any legal ramifications on the new CPA provisions for these Cellular Operators ? could be the loophole they were looking for.

Well with the new act on consumers the mobile industry is going to Skh$t. just think about all those phones that break within 6 months. i i can tell you it is going to be a lot of them. ......new one please......no no i said a new one.

ICASA, delaying something? NO! This cannot be!

And free stuff you only get if you buy something, isn't really free?

Oh my poor heart can't handle all the shocks today!

pfft... Someone just get rid of these *******s. Wonder if the new agency supposedly being established to care for consumers wil be any better?

Just another useless agency earning big bucks but failing to do much of what they're paid to do. Reminds me of government.

If you want to cancel your ADSL contract before the two year contract is up, Telkom divides the price of the “free” ADSL Modem by 24 and you pay in what is left. If you get a "free" cell phone on a contract, just do the same. Price of the cell phone dived by the term of the contract. I think that is fare.

PATHETIC. Typical ICASA, controlled by Vodacom and the rest of the European companies.

Simply, pathetic.

How much of an impact does the new consumer act have on this?

Until we see actual cases with precedence being set I don't think we'll see a difference.

Not on MTN!

those idiots wanna charge me the FULL cost of the phone even though i only have four months left on my 24 month contract,if that isnt a rip off then i dont know what is!That way they are preventing me from cancelling my contract!

I wish icasa can get this right!

Another case of the tail wagging the dog. ICASA is just a toothless agency that is another waste of taxpayers (ie my) money.

My previous signature on this forum was something to the effect of:
Changed the acronym to iCASA = incompetent Communication Authority of South Africa.
Nothing has changed.

A bit of wining and dining, a sponsored trip here and there and deep pockets - problem solved.

Another government agency that is just as useless as the president.
