Comparing the price structures of similar packages, consumers find that the airtime included in the starter packs is cheaper than buying top-up airtime on existing prepaid accounts.

That should have told them something about their prices. I mean if someone is that desperate to get airtime you KNOW your prices are maybe too high. With the transfer of ait time funds though, its as easy as childs play, mebbe i should get me some of those with R12 or is it R25 free, those sometimes go for like R2 - R5

This is a huge task for operators who have to come up with "innovative" ideas to capture subscribers and also find a mechanism to educate the informal sector about the process.

Simple really - offer a lower tariff structure to registered users. You'll get people registering from day 1 instead of waiting till the last day and you'll do something about the astronomical tariffs here.

People who dont want to register dont have to - nobody's holding a gun to their head forcing them to use a cellphone.
