Celtel still keen on SA

CELLULAR network operator Celtel — the main regional rival to MTN and Vodacom — is still hankering to enter SA and may do so in partnership with a nontraditional player.

I used Celtel in a few countries up north while working there (Malawi/Zambia). My only complaint was that they were relative expensive (in terms of prepaid)

Celtel's one key success story is called "ONE NETWORK". Basically if you travel with our Celtel sim into another Celtel country, you keep your home rates in the Celtel country you are visiting. Globally and I stand corrected, but its the first real success story of a product of its nature actually working, even in Europe. I know Vodafone have a similar service and I haven't used it to be honest.

Coming to SA, I think they will battle regardless in what ever sphere they try complete. Just look at Virgin Mobile and how they in almost 2 years have only managed I think 400k subscribers.
