IMO I dont see why I have to be counted, it should be my right not to submit to it IMO of course

Johannesburg - People who refuse to take part in the national Census could be sent to prison or could face a fine of R10 000, Stats SA said on Saturday.

"I am not sure why people would want to refuse, even if you are in political disagreement with the current government, it is your responsibility as a citizen to take part," spokesperson Trevor Oosterwyk said.

"According to the law we can fine people, send them to jail or both."

A community in Moutse, Limpopo had refused to take part in the Census during the week, he said

No one was arrested and the matter was resolved.

Oosterwyk also warned that people should be careful of who they let into their homes.

"There have been incidents in virtually every province of people posing as Census workers," he said.

He reiterated that people should make sure the enumerator had their ID with them before they were let into any home.

The first phase of the Census would end on Ocober 31 and would be followed by a two week "mop up", he said,

"During the mop up officials will make sure everyone has been counted."

He said that operations were slightly behind schedule but expected progress to improve over the next week.

Then after the two week "mop up" they will have another two week "mop-up" mop-up ?
 
I vote, thats my right and my duty.
Census SA is a government run thing and I will not do anything that the ANC want me to, thanks but no thanks. They will probably manipulate the stats anyway
 
I don't see why people are so anti this? It's just a census for Pete's Sake. It's not like there is any info on there that the government doesn't already have if you are a taxpayer, cellphone user or home owner.

If they already have it, why do they need it again?

It makes as little sense as forcing cellphone contract users to RICA.

Gary, I am not prepared to submit to this corrupt piece of crap gvt just because they say I must.
If it was an independent count buy a reputable company....different story.
I dont for one minute believe the stats will truly reflect what's going on so I refuse to partake.
I do my share, pay tax and vote.
Thats all I am prepared to do for this gvt.

Is that a joke? Things have not been working in SA for years and trust me it didnt make a difference if I participated or not.
I pay my taxes, vote and dont break the law. Other than that I wont partake in any gvt census unless its run by an independent company and the ANC grubby paws cannot influence it the findings or results.

Ye.. but how about working WITH the system instead of against ? Must be hard to go through your life rubbing against the grain like that.

Its a silly census.... they have them all round the world. Its not some evil scheme invented by the ANC.

It can only improve your situation and that of the people around you.

How is that tinfoil hat ? nice and snug? i mean really now, its a census. The questions are pretty basic and unobtrusive, what is it you think the anc is going to "influence" or do with the data?

The ANC improving things for me? Bwahahah yeah right. I have no objection to Census taking, just not in SA and not by the gvt.
 
A census guy came to my house, he had his ID book but no name tag thing. I refused him entry but did answer his questions outside my house. If he had his badge, I would have let him in. It was Sunday and he did smell like a brewery so I was pretty sure he was hungover and forgot his badge thing. Just in case, my Glock was in plain sight just in case he wasn't on the level.

Yes I do believe stats are manipulated but then again I am not a zombie ANC follower like you......
How else, oh great one, would you advise someone to boycott the ANC? I am not breaking a law even though the ANC now say we are. I pay my tax, vote and obey the laws of the land so I have the right not to be counted by a corrupt / unethical group of criminals.
 
My wife has seen some of the census workers next to road erasing stuff on forms and filling in new stuff
