Centurion VDSL Rollout

Most of the time Telkoms system and what is installed is in two worlds. You have to grab a Telkom Techie by the ear and they need to explain the route your line follows. So ask him where is your copper line going to. Does it go through the MSANS. What is the distance from your house to the MSANS. If not going through MSANS are you connected directly to exchange.

Once you have this information you will then be able to identify the bul****ter.

Mopani Road across from hennopspark primary. Got it straight from Telkom

Well I know for a fact that I am connected to an in-door MSAN, but no Telkom person knows anything about VDSL as they're all trained for the Fibre rollout which is bs expensive

We have MSAN's (probably about 5) in Irene that has been here for the best part of probably a year and a half. As far as I can tell they have not been 'cut over', or they are not connected to electricity. Does anyone know what the status of these are? I am in the process of getting ADSL and I am informed I can only get a 2mbps line.

Irene ADSL connected member here. According to the last technician max Irene get is 4mbps, which is what I supposedly have...not sure how to actually check this?

I was wondering what those new Telkom boxes where?

hi anyone like me in the Wierdapark 012 653 area who was able to connect to the allegedly upgraded MSAN hennopspark exchange near bakenkop primary school? i received a text in December from telkom stating they are in the planning to upgrade stage for my area, unfortunately deleted the text by mistake... tried various phone calls to telkom - transferred between various departments and no one could give me info regarding the planned upgrade time. i am desperate

Recently moved to Alethea Street, Lyttelton/Die Hoewes, Centurion. Applied to get my line moved to the new place but still no ETA as to when that will actually happen, does anyone know if the area will support 20/40? (Don't yet have the new tel number)

I can chime in as an Irene ADSL user as well, I have two lines running quite well on 4Mbps. I've been staring at those new fancy Telkom boxes on the two street corners close by and so far I've seen no progress in getting us cut over and on VDSL speeds.

I'm hoping 012 656 is on VDSL too.. Coverage map only shows ADSL2+ my number doesn't work with line check :-(

Apparently nothing on the cards.. My max is 4Mbps albeit my line says 10.. sigh.. Waits

Anyone know if there will be a future roll out?

also on 656, and the 4mb is so pathetic I went in to the telkom shop to ask if anything can be done to increase speed (thinking business line or whatever) she said nope, but some of her "systems" said 10mb might be possible, although line checker says no. so 4 weeks later the technicians confirms that it can't be done. some other lady from the call center phones me back and asks if she can close the request? (well if it can't be done....) anycase, long story short she said there is nothing on the cards that she knows of, " but you never know"
bleh
and we have telkom clowns with their gazebo's advertising "super fast internet" on every corner.

Meh I just need it for the upload speed increase :-/ **waits patiently**

The reply I got from Vumatel when I basically told them that everyone in Centurion WANTS fibre:

We are open to all and any suburbs that are interested in fibre. The ones we have particular focus on are simply those that have shown the most demand.

Unfortunately, at this stage we cannot spare resources to gather interest from suburbs that aren't listed on our website. We do, however, monitor demand that comes in and communicate with resident associations that get in contact with us.

Have a great weekend!

This was on 28 February.

Just got my line upgraded to 20mb after a nice 3 week battle with Telkom :)

I'm on 012 654.

Lucky you. I'm in the 654 area but my street is not covered by VDSL. It looks like the coverage ends at Ruimte Road Street. I'm further west of that. :(

Also in Irene, X10. We have a bunch of the msan boxes up and ready also for more than a year in our estate. Was told the same story that they're waiting for municipality to supply electricity to the boxes  In the meantime, I'm stuck on max 4 Mbps. I last enquired from a techie who was working just up my street around the beginning of Feb, about the status of those boxes. He claims they were told to expect power to the boxes within the next month. Well, that time has passed
