Cerato steering column problem

Hi,

My 2010 1.6 Cerato's power-steering gave issues 6 months ago, starting out as a minor irritation. The EPS warning light would stay on after starting and the power-steering would not engage. I'd switch off and back on and it would work fine for a day or 2. I took it to a dealership who reset the error codes and the problem seemed to have been resolved. I took the car in for a 120,000km service recently and thereafter the same behaviour occurred. I booked it back in a week later, but the power-steering failed completely the day before the booking.

1x steering column later, and a 32k dent in the bank.

I assume you bought from the stealership.
Surely there are scrap yards with enough dinged Cerato's around?

Possibly, but I'm not brave enough to try that route

By the looks of your first post, I assumed you had already done the deed and moved on.

If it's a 2010 model, surely it's under warranty still?

I have, as the car was out of warranty (bought it in April 2010). It amazes me how these things happen to close to the end of the warranty. I'm going to say "school fees" and move along
