Considering getting one for my daughter to replace her old, tired 4s...

If it's Apple Certified then yes, they replace the battery. However from looking around on Google pretty much anyone can "certify" them so it's best to ask the people you're buying it from… Core, not being Apple, included.

If you're ogling the ones currently available on Takealot, those are listed as having a 1 year Apple warranty, so I'm sure the battery will be new.

There is a whole thread on CPO units under the iPhone/iPad subsection (where your thread should have been posted! ) but in short, it has a new battery, new screen, new casing, new everything...comes packaged like a new one, with new headphones/charger/cable, etc. and it has undergone a very strict and proper refurbishing process.

So definitely worth the money, it has a 1 year warranty just like the new ones too.

It arrived today. Actually a damned good idea from Apple, given the cost of new phones nowadays. My daughter is going to be over the moon!
