Bought a Centrino end last year for under R2k 2nd hand.(Acer 1.4 Cen, !gb ram, 30gb, 15.4")
Dell is probibly a better brand...

Yip Dell is much better than Acer.

Anyways, these models get taken back from large firms like Old Mutual etc who replace all their machines - they come in for refurbishement and then resold.

Parts like DVD roms etc get replaced, so parts of the machines are new.

For second hand machines from a trusted source these are the best.\
