Change from Diploma to Bcom

So I was accepted at Nmmu for a diploma in IT and I registered a week ago, but yesterday we are at Orientation and the faculty manager says there will no longer be a Btech degree to do since its being phased out, and I was planning on getting the btech straight after the diploma so now I think I should change to the Bcom(Information Systems And Business Management) 3 year degree, they said its not full yet so I still have a chance and I meet the minimum requirements, should I go for it or stay with the diploma?
