change printing layout

I use an old accounting program that is written in foxpro (I think) and only allows printing via a dotmatrix printer.
I have tried using a usb-lpt1 cable and different programs that send the dos jobs to a windows printer but the layout of the statements in A4 format is TOTALLY off.
1 page of the dot matrix statement comes to like 4 pages in the A4 layout.
Is there any program that can easily change the original format and reduce spaces etc so that it will print easily on a laser printer and A4 page?

look for a program called FinePrint. Unfortunately not free... but the most versatile of all printing programs!

Does the printer have a print as image option in the preferences tab? This should ignore printer specific commands and simply output the document as a picture....
