I visited Sentech's site today as I am researching for a new article. It seems that the packages have changed in more than just name:

Product Description

MyWireless Standard : shared Internet access with maximum uplink bandwidth of 64 Kbps and maximum downlink bandwidth of 128Kbps.

MyWireless Professional : shared Internet access with maximum uplink bandwidth of 128Kbps and maximum downlink bandwidth of 256Kbps.

MyWireless Premium : shared Internet access with maximum uplink bandwidth of 256 Kbps and maximum downlink bandwidth of 512Kbps.

I have a question for those of you that still have MyWireloss since the initial launch timing. dbnet, greedyfly, luke7777 etc.

Has Sentech changed your connection? i.e. Are you now limited to 64K upstream on the old "128" package? If so, has Sentech contacted you and informed you of the change?

Surely this would mean that Sentech is unilaterally changing the terms of your contract, which is illegal.

Please let me know.

arf,

I'm on 256 (sorry "Professional") and I have never been contacted. 6 months ago I could get 256k "uplink" but have been limited to 128k for a while now.

Have you spoken to Sentech about this?

It seems like misrepresentation to me...

I'm not disputing whether we've had it or not. Think greedy's post further in the same thread also testifies to the fact that it WAS there, to the point of even exceeding the package limit. I'm merely stating the info relayed to me when I queried it with ST, before getting MyWi

I wont say that Im exactly limited to 64K.. but performance shows that it is something to that effect. The service becomes useless if uploads are near 64kbps. I will do an upload speed test when I get home.

It was uncapped and unlimited before. Something has definitely changed. Why? I dunno.

I'm pretty sure that it was sold to me as 128K both ways....but I could be wrong.

oh how I wish I had saved the sentech website to prove arf right and the rest of you dead DEAD DEAD wrong.

Wake up people! please... yes... that's it... NO NO NO NO... damn, I tried. Shame, fine, get walked all over the rest of your life. Believe everything you hear. Dont do research.

arf, you're correct, back when (january 2004 - november 2004, rest in hell) I had my connection (512k now premium) the max upload speed you got was 128k, didn't matter which package you were on.

Since this is a thread about "Changes to existing contracts", the issue is whether the contractual upload speed actually has changed, bcos if the contract said 64Kbits/s maximum upload speed then you cannot complain that Sentech supplied more than that for some time & they have now limited it to what the contract specifies.

in November and part of december I was uploading at between 40 - 60K/sec. Now its around 15K/sec.

I don't have my contract anymore....(tore it up in a fit of pique!) Does anyone have one...?

Checked. It is capped to 64kbps. Which effectively means your download speed has a finite upper limit if you do anything other than browsing and ftp. I wonder if this is too slow everybody down even more or to better the VoIP capability. Actually it doesnt matter, im getting ADSL hopefully soon anyway.

The bigger issue is that the package name has changed - my contract, in writing, is for "MyWireless 256k", not "MyWireLess Professional". If there is no such service as "MyWireLess 256k" anymore then I don't seem to have a contract with Sentech anymore?

garp,

Just playing devils advocate - I think you will find that they are no longer selling MW256k, but they will say that it is still supported for existing customers.

Hey - just checked my contract - Roll on end of May! Hopefully all the other option will have sorted their **** out by then...

in their contract they say that this contract can change and its up to you to check if it has changed... besides that their contract says they can change the service however they want...

I am so HAPPY I cancelled... maybe you guys should consider the same?

VT, that contract - do you have a pdf version - I remember back in the day when I was less gray/grey :D I downloaded either the contract or Tz&Cz in pdf format...
