Changing from XP to Linpus on an Acer netbook

A family member has an Acer netbook that came with XP. I also have the model with Linpus installed on it.

I would like to remove the XP from the family member's netbook and replace it with the Linpus OS and OpenOffice that came with mine.

Is there an "easy" way to do this? Has someone attempted this before?

You still have the recovery disc that came with YOUR AAO ? You can use that to "restore" Linpus on the XP AAO by either using an external USB optical drive or by creating a bootable USB flash disk.

To be quite honest, though, you'll be better off installing one of the Ubuntu distributions. It'll be easier, faster, and things won't be broken, the way they are with Acer's remix of Linpus.

Rather put ubuntu on it.

Installing ubuntu from a usb drive was pretty easy.

yes with gmail set up works just fine through my home wlan. Why?

+1 for ubuntu. The netbook version is as simple to use as the linpus that came with it thanks to the launcher.

Otherwise just use the recovery disk that came with yours to load up a usb drive.

Not with web based e'mail program,try telkom or mweb etc.
