Hi All

Afrihost shapes my 4mb line to hell as soon as I do over 18GB a month so I'll be leaving that **** hole ISP. For the same kind of price, R450 - R600, which would be the next best "Uncapped" provider? I've been seeing mixed results with MWEB and OpenWeb. I used to have an Axxess account back in the day but they had terrible latencies and very up and down speeds.

In terms of my usage I don't try to download the internet but I do play loads of online games like EVE and WoW as well as games on Steam. I download lots of updates and always try out demos/betas if they're up. My typical usage per month would probably be around 60GB - 100GB.

Any advice on which account I should look at?

Thanks in advance.

Try out those unshaped accounts from OpenWeb. They're the best ISP in my opinion and no contract is needed. But I'm sure you knew that. :)

For your usage definitely open uncapped lite.

Remember that an ISP resells different serice providers accounts. Openweb have multiple options if one type of account isnt for you.

Mweb for sure man.

Some people moan but for me it is pure awesomeness :D. Granted i do not do 200+gb's, maybe like 120 or 150gb which i suppose is low usage.

I have mweb uncapped in the last 2 weeks has been epic.

Thanks for the fast responses.

Taking a look at OpenWeb's offerings at the moment and the Uncapped Lite does indeed look really good.

Why Lite?

If you are a gamer, and do not download 24 / 7, Lite offers you unshaped ADSL access, which allows you to enjoy the benefits of the internet without being slowed down. VOIP works Great. Don't get us wrong, P2P and torrents will be a breeze, until you enter the 20% bracket, upon which they will be drastically shaped.

Thats the bit that worries me however. How will I know when I fall into this magical 20% bracket? Is there a way to monitor it from your account page? Also I don't want to suddenly find out that 5gb this month means you're in the shaped bracket. I ideally never want to be shaped while I stay within the usage I defined above.

Dude. Unless you do over 150 to 200gigs I doubt you will be bothered by it.

I bought Mweb 4mbs uncapped two days ago...
So far i have done over 25GB....

Just finished downloading Left 4 Dead 2 (lets say demo :) ) off a torrent at 413kbs!!!
Just finished Downloading Adobe Master Collection off adobe at 480kb/s AND IT PEAKED AT 501kb/s at one stage!!!!!!!!!
Steam is (i think) a priority site becuase i also get max speeds on there 24/7 which is awsum :) !!

Im really loving mwebs servive and im telling JOIN THEM! i was so close to not doing becuase i heard so many mixed results but now that i have done it i will never look back :)
I played BC2 online just now, it was playable - with a litte but of lag (not noticable) but granted that was during the time everyone in the country is checking their emails, stock prices etc...

I did 35gb in one day, got an email of abuse the next day, and when I got my invoice, I was bumped up to the R1999 business package. Cancelled the account. Now using Vodacom Business Uncapped including 3G/Wireless, without any interruptions and fast as hell, @ not that much more. Never been offline since connection on signup. More than you can say of any Seacom related product.
