Is it possible to have a cellphone number changed on a Topup135 contract?

I phoned 111 but they say its not possible. A guy is giving my gf silent calls from a unknown number. We suspect it is the maniac who followed us and tried to assault us a couple of weeks ago.

There is a criminal case against him but we have no way to prove who it is because the person keeps quiet and its a unknown number. So the easiest way to stop this would be a new cellphone number.

How old is the contract? Since they say it can't be done why not just wait untill the contract is over?
Or you could get a prepaid sim and transfer the airtime from the Top up contract every month (Not sure if its alowed on Top up)

I remember my SP telling me its not possible. Only solution is to get a court order to get the network to reveal the mystery caller.

TopUp does not allow you to transfer your monthly "top-up" - tried to do it for another top-up contract but failed.

well that sucks....It's your airtime - which you are paying for - you should be able to do what ever you want

Like someone said, can't transfer airtime. I'm pretty sure they are able to change a number, don't know why they don't want to...

How does one go about getting a court order?

Exactly and I only discovered this two months ago when I had R300 on my phone but my wife had R5. I cannot even buy SMS bundles with it, only data and MMS (WTF still uses MMS)

You need to lay a charge at the cop station first and they need to investigate - was at my SP last week and a customer had exact same problem and this is what the SP told him

It is actually very easy to change your number. You give number, we go into the system and give you a predefined list of numbers to choose from...click ok and number is changed almost instantly. Thing is...this is not available to Top Up clients. Top Up lines run on the prepaid billing engine and it does not support this feature. The number will need to be migrated to a normal contract like the Everyday Off Peak 120 or higher and then the number can be changed.

acording to vodacom you can transfer airtime:
http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/services/Voice/Airtime+Transfer?selected=7_a7&ciFormat=default&ht=t

but this discalimer means the oposite:
This excludes the Top Up monthly subscription amount or the airtime value within a starter pack.
and then un t and c's
TopUp Customers

1. TopUp customers must be provisioned for this service by the SP

2. All active Vodacom TopUp customers will be able to receive airtime from another valid Vodacom customer.

3. TopUp customers are allowed to make use of airtime transfer.

4. TopUp customers may not transfer any of the credit they receive on the 1st of every month.

5. TopUp customers are able to transfer 80% of all recharges made above the airtime credit received on the 1st of every month. The minimum amount allowed that may be transferred at one time still remains at R29.

6. Therefore if the TopUp customer recharges with R110 they will be allowed to transfer R88.

Give a female airtime on credit? Bah humbug! Let him keep bothering her lol

Mmmm, so after a contract is migrated, how long do you have to wait to migrate it back (if one can migrate it back?)

3 months....but there might be a charge involved as it will then be a downward migration. Urg...not sure. I will have to confirm this. This aint exactly a every day event with us :-)

Or how easy would it be for me to close the current Topup early and open a new one with a new number? Even a higher up one if necessary?

Former friend...

Couple where my friends for since 2006. Making up BS about me and his wife having affair, couldn't get any evidence because there is no affair so how can there be evidence. Decides to divorce her and he is angry at world. Tried to get my gf to spy on me and hers activities and send saucy sms's to her from my phone (without my knowledge), she knows its not true that we have an affair so she tells me what he wants. Over the following week we repeatedly ask him to leave us alone and not contact us.

Follows me and gf from having dinner at his (ex)wifes house. When we stop next to him at robot and confront him about him following us, he jumps out with a wheelspanner and tries to assault us, but I use my selfdefence weapon and speed away at which time he throws a dent in my bakkie with the wheelspanner and immediately go open a case at the police. My gf was hurt with the wheelspanner

2 weeks later he tries to open a case against me in revenge but it gets dismissed in court, his case is ongoing. Now she keeps getting these calls where no one speaks (but she can hear machinery in the background and he work in that type of field. He won't phone me, he is too chicken (he probably had dutch bravery at time of assault).

How about this:

1. remove sim from phone.
2. Cut sim up with scissors.
3. Go to Vodacom shop, tell them you lost your sim card.
4. While they change the sim, ask if they can change the number.
5. Profit??

Thanks, love the T&Cs ... not

I dont know. Either phone them and ask them, or ask ocleroux.

Just phone VC customer care and say, I lost my sim, want a new one, but will my number have to change. Or can it change. Based on that, you can decide whether to cut it up.

Be warned VC will charge you a sim card fee of about R200.
