Komatipoort - Schoolchildren vandalised four cars and school property in Mpumalanga on Monday morning when they were told to go home and dress properly.

Chaos erupted at Sincobile high school in Sibayeni south of Malalane just before 08:00 when pupils, who weren't in uniform and were wearing dreadlocks, were told to go home and dress properly.

Angry pupils stoned four cars belonging to the principal, deputy principal and two school teachers.

They also smashed classroom windows, forcing the principal to close the school for the day.

The principal, Fikile Sibiya, declined to comment and referred questions to Nkomazi East circuit manager Petros Shabangu.

Shabangu said he had not received a report about the incident therefore also couldn't comment.

He said he would be in a position to comment on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Tonga police spokesperson Constable Mzwandile Nyambi, said police expected to arrest some of the pupils soon on charges of malicious damage to property.

Animals, bloody animals!!!! No other words come to mind…

Its the legacy of apartheid that they have to wear the old colonial masters slave clothing...

...oh wait, its just a school uniform. My bad.

In my day that would have been six of the best and then home for a change. What is wrong with these kids? And then the parents blame the teachers for not instilling discipline. I would hate to have to bring up a child in this day and age with these hooligans running around thinking the world owes them a favour!

Hey, it was one way in which no one was descriminated against - we ALL wore uniforms and they all looked bloody awful. Honestly, where has the pride gone?

Discipline should start in schools. Beat the little bastards!!!! I personally think that children should have low levels of self confidence. I hate when kids run around in a restaurant or throw tantrums in public. put the fear of death into the little snake headed terrorists.

School uniforms is the legacy of colonial times, not apartheid.

School violence is the legacy of the ANC public disobedience programme.

I was being fecetious by throwing all the white-guilt 'power' words in there: Apartheid, colonial, slavery... the usual.

Gotta disagree with you there. School violence is due to the severe lack of discapline in many schools around the world. Kids deserve to be beaten when they get out of line. End of Story.

So true. I remember when I was in standard 7 and the matrics tried to come in civvies on a Friday, everyone got such a hiding that most of them could not sit properly. They where all send home to change, and there parent informed. To boot, all of them got detention till 18:00 that Friday.

The teachers today should just beat them to an inch of their lives. That should hopefully make them more responsible as adults.

Who needs corporal punishment?!?!, another fine example of african justice.

WTF has vandalism got to do with not being dressed properly.

Oh yes, this is Africa. Here, a protest about safety is unsafe.

George Cato Primary: White, Indian staff say things are at breaking point

THE volatile racial situation at George Cato Primary appears to have reached breaking point, with 11 of the white and Indian teachers officially requesting special leave from the Education Department until the situation is “suitably resolved”.

They said they applied for the leave on the recommendation of their unions.

The teachers handed their letters to the chair of the Displacement of Educators committee on Friday after two of them were allegedly pushed off the road by a black teacher on Thursday. Other teachers in the car allegedly jeered and made rude gestures.

“We are constantly victimised and threatened … We are being sworn at in front of the children and we have had enough,” said the group.

They said the situation reached boiling point after white and Indian teachers were held hostage earlier this month and has since deteriorated.

They claim to have received no support from the acting principal, who they allege is in cahoots with the black teachers and was part of the crowd of protesters in January.

A teacher said a number of children have left, and the rest are unsettled.

“They are using the children and influencing them and this has affected the children’s behaviour.”
Some of the white and Indian teachers want to carry on working at the school and asked why they should be driven out.

No.
Each parent should discipline their kids.
The school is there to teach not discipline.
