I write this with a hope it'll take some of the pain away.

About 4 years ago we rescued a little Marmoset from being put down. I am not a believer in keeping exotic pets but it was us or being put down.

He was 5weeks old. 4yrs later and being my best Buddy and Chom he got very sick and we had him at Onderstepoort where the best care is available.

They still not sure of the cause or sickness he had but tried every test and gave it their all with intensive care and medication for all "indications"

He passed away last night at 22:44 and I am devastated as is my wife.

For those that are not fond of their pets you won't understand and that's fine but I have gone through and still going through so many emotions.

Man he put up a fight and every time we were going to call it he'd pick up a bit.

He passed away in his sleep as peacefully as one could hope for but after 5 days of fighting.

I didn't want a autopsy but said they can if they thought it could help others in the future.

I just want his ashes.

RIP my Bud and I'll never forget you.

Fvck it hurts

Sorry for the TLTR etc but I had to get it out.

Rip little one. I feel more for them than people.

Yeah it sucks. Last year my neighbour's Marmoset decided he'd start visiting every time he got an opportunity. Then when he stopped coming around I found out he had unfortunately passed away in an accident at home.

Sorry about your little buddy Charlie. My thoughts are with you and your wife. Never easy to part with the ones we love. Over time fond memories will be less burdened with the emotional pain and the heavy feeling will turn lighter.

I care way more for animals than I do for people, the pain of that kind of loss is horrible.
Really sorry to hear about your little buddy :(

Sad to hear your little pet died Hemi, you must be missing him so much :(

Sorry to hear about this, man. :(

These little souls have a way of working themselves right into your very existence, as fleeting as it might be. Sounds like he couldn't have had a better life, thanks to you. I can't think of a better way to have gone -in his sleep.

Thanks for giving him 4 extra, happy, years. :)

Stay strong Hemi, hopefully time will take some of the pain away.

 Sorry Hemi. Sending virtual hugs. If its any consolation... His pain is behind him.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

Condolences and I'm sorry to hear. I know where you're coming from having lost our toy pom last week :(

My condolences. Be strong and remember the joy he brought you and the family. Point is the more intellegent a pet the stronger the bond and caring. I can sort if feel and imagine your pain.
