I'm at a new company that still uses timesheets to manage the dev team. They want to change to a more Agile system now the team has grown; however, before I joined they seem to have decided on Chase ( http://www.chasesoftware.co.za/ ) which is a local time management system.

When I used Chase last, about 7 years ago, it was abysmal. Terrible UI and their support was also not good.

There are many, many free/cheap options (Trello, Phabricator's bug tracker, Pivotal etc etc) for managing dev time in a Agile-ish manner, but the argument is that because almost all SA Ad agencies use Chase, less time is needed for training.

The site does not offer any demo to try out; I am loathe to try to use the software to manage a dev team without more details.

Does anyone use it for a similar purpose? Or have any insight into the latest version of the software?

For time management, You can try using Replicon's software. If there's any software that could be the best for our overseas business, then its surely this time recording software only.

With this software, we can maintain our invoices and prepare reports in a matter of minutes like a pro. The best part of this software is that it stores the old invoices along with the necessary information related to the business for a long period.

Visit this page ( http://www.replicon.com/olp/online-time-recording-software.aspx ), you can find free demo option, make use of it.

Hope it helps you!

We don't have a choice in software. And Chase cannot do what I want it to at present.
