Whats the cheapest semi decent android phone out at the moment? I recall 8ta had specials but can't find the thread.

My Desire HD has packed up... last time I'm buying a HTC. (phone itself is in almost perfect condition, no scratches, etc... but... volume button fell off, keep getting sim card not detected error, and now the mic doesn't work).

I still have my LG Optimus ONE P500. ticking like a Swiss watch just the data charges are killing me :p Getting a Blackberry end of the month

Wtf you climbing on a sinking ship? :p

(actually - maybe I must just get one of those cheap android Chinese imports :p)

Buddy get a redbull phone and I'll come over there and klap you with the phone I got from them.

Happy using my Galaxy Note

Linoman he said cheap phone, you can look at the Galaxy Y or the Galaxy Pocket though the screen isn't great on them. My wife had a Vodafone 858 for a little while, not to bad but you've got to root it and put on CM 7.2 as it runs sooooo much better then.

I know but I sure as hell will never recommend anyone buy a cheap Android phone. They are crap plain and simple

Vodacom is planning on launching a new Vodafone Smart (upgraded version basically of the v858). We also getting the Defy Mini middle of this month...I think it will retail somewhere in the region of R2700.00 or there abouts. If you need one urgently, then the Galaxy Y is going for about R1600.00.

That's the Galaxy Y pro, we picked up one for R1200 or the Pocket is going for R999 at CNA, looks like a nice little phone. I find the prices of the Defy a little high? Even the old Defy was high, only reason I got one was because it was R1500 from 8ta, wish they had the Arc S at the time. But now my phone is rooted, running CM7.2 RC3 it's smoooth.

I'm starting to think Android is the problem. Don't get me wrong I love android have the Desire myself and gettting the s3 or OneX but Android does seem to need ALOT of juice Dual core, Quad core to run smoothly. Which is a bit silly seeing as i'm told Windows phone runs fine on single core.

I don't think it's Android, it's all the OEM stuff the manufacturers slap on to the phone, my single core Defy runs brilliantly on a custom ROM, remove all the unnecessary fluff the OEM's put on and the phones shine.
