So where can you pick up this Motorola Dey for around R1500?

my next contract phone is going to be the lumia 920, i jusy need something to help me survive till then. Saw a Galaxy Ace going for R1100 on gumtree but it only has 158mb on-board which is a deal breaker.

I currently have a Galaxy Gio but because of the tiny 158mb onboard memory I am really in need of a new phone, something that will take me through the next 6 months. I don't want a downgrade on screen size the phone has a 3.2" screen. I am looking for something around R2500 or less. I have seen the HTC Desire C although it has a bigger screen, more ram the processor is only 600mhz, my gio is 800mhz. Any suggestions?

For a little more you can get a second hand (good condition) Galaxy Note. This one goes for R3500.

Bought a MotoDefy (MB525) from the Atterbury Incredible Connection on Monday and apparently they have lots of stock. Marked down from R2899 to R999.99 according to the sales person.

A friend of mine bought one from that same IC one month ago. From what I could gather, the deal is only available at that particular store.

It was still available last week Friday. If OP wants cheap phone with qwerty keyboard, they have the HTC ChaCha for the same price

Not sure if you're keen on the 2nd hand market - but as stated, S2's go for around R2.5k.
LG Optimus Black can be had for R1500 or thereabout too.

Have a look on carbonite forums, lots of handsets on the go from reputable sellers.
