I need help. I have only R600 for a new graphics card. I'd prefer an nvidia. I don't need hd or the like, I just want best gaming performance for my very limited buck. Any ideas?

Best option is trying to get lucky on a second hand deal. You won't find anything decent for gaming for R600 brand new.

Don't want to jack this thread but this was exactly what I was going to ask, same price just agpX8

Thanks

Thanks, did see it but wasn't sure if it was decent or not. Looks like my best option. PCI for those who asked and if the mod could move this thread to the right place I'd appreciate it. Thanks everyone.

Um, both these options below will give better performance at not that much cash extra:

MSI nVidia GeForce 8500GT - 256MB - PCI-E
Price: R 657
Don't let the 256mb fool you. It's DDR3 and will give better performance.

But here's my real suggestion:
TwinTech nVidia GeForce 8600GT - 512MB - PCI-E Price: R 714

You won't regret spending the odd R100 bucks extra. Trust me.

For agp:

The only ones worth getting are way out the price range:
here

Rather then just try get something second hand.

Yap, I would also rather go for the 8600GT, that extra 100 bucks is worth it. I've got one, and it plays any new game with medium to high graphics.

AGP is probably 7600GT or HD2450 (Or something) Bought a 7600GT for R1600 last year.. AGP cards are expensive and crap ;)

not really since the 9400 is a replacement card for the 8400 and so on.

So if u can find a 9500 that would be better.

The 9 series is new tecnologie but sometimes they lack performance since its only replacement cards in the market for the older cards.

I have a MSI 8600GT with factory overclock for sale - 3 months old. PM if interested.

The only reason I would not buy an ATI card currently is that Dolphin (GCM emulator) doesn't run well on it.
