Due to a Sale at Prophecy, one can get a Gecube HD2900Pro for R900.

I know it's oldish, hot and power-hungry, but R1800 for two to Crossfire sounds like a good deal.

Right now I'll be gaming at 1440x900, but later want to go to 1920x1080 as soon as cashflow lets me get one of the nice Full HD 32" LCDs.

Should I go the whole hog and get 2 to Crossfire?

Ouch, I see they consume about 150W a piece. The price is pretty decent, but I'd make sure your CPU and cooling is up to scratch before taking the plunge. Perhaps even replace the stock cooling on both cards for another R250 per card.

Iam playing on 1680x1050 with 2x hd3850's and a e4300@3Ghz. In some games theres still lagg on full AA so 1920x1080 imo will be abit to much for 2 hd2900pro's (depending on the detail and Cpu). Would go for a HD4850 for a little more and for the future 2 of them. My mobo is only 16x and 4x which is much slower than 16x and 16x. So a good mobo is important.

Doesn't sound bad:) for the price your prob not going to get any better crossfire deal..but yea u will be better off with 1 x 4850.and then later just add another one when u got the cash:D
