Cheap internet access 'coming'

I hate to say this but, unless they have something to bring in less that 3 to 5 yrs then they aren't really speeding up the money drain process are they? Yes its Bill Gates but in SA we already set on the slow pace to a cheaper telecoms in 5-10yrs time.
 
Much of Africa was devoid of power grids and telephone lines, making inexpensive wireless technology capable of working over vast distances the obvious solution.

Uhm, the question is, why are things so friggin expensive where we DO have power and lines? Not just expensive, exorbetantly so!
 
Why is it that every time Gates states the obvious its deemed newsworthy?

Im mean please, Bill Gates is going to solve our connectivity problems in 5 to 10 years. Icasa should have done it 5 years ago.

He's basically giving our leadership the excuse to pass the buck. Instead of playing the great white saviour he should be telling Africa to stop ****ing around and do it ourselves.

Havent you figured it out yet? We're subsidising Telkom's profits from those people who they would been exploiting if they could. :(
