HI Guys and Dolls

I just wanted to thank all those that posted on the thread

"Cell-C Free calls useless"

It was a great success.

So i decided that we put forward some proposals to Cell-C regarding their customer retention and increase in Subscriber numbers and ARPU.

While we do welcome the free calls, we have learn't many lessons from it.

Their network is consistently jammed in urban areas and well developed areas as well. Even calls going across networks is a problem. When Cell-C adjusted the minimum recharge amount to R10 they were under the impression that it would ease congestion on the network however R10 is quite good value for 120 minutes and you dont even lose the airtime.

I feel that a low call rate on Cell-C to Cell-C calls is in order as this would bring in revenue for Cell-C and at the same time win customers over.
the call rate should be like 6c a minute, for the purpose of per second billing the rate per second would obviously be 0.10c per second. If this rate could be applied in off peak time Mon-Fri I would think that MTN and Vodacom would have reason to review their on network call rates as well. There would obviously be lesser conjestion over the Cell-C network over week-ends and revenue will be flying in to roll out more base stations.

Heres the mathematics

48 hours over the week-ends of free call time with no revenue.

48 hours over paid for airtime with Revenue :

1 500 000 x 2100 x 6c = ? u do the Math Dear Cell-C CEO

There are 3 500 000 cell-c Customers lets say only 1 500 000 people use the service.

48 hours in the week-end from fri midnite till sunday mid nite Lets say the network is used for 35 hours = 2100 minutes.

The proposed rate of 6c per MINUTE.

If this solution is adopted over week-days in off peak time , Dear CEO guess how many people would switch to Cell-C. You would not even be able to supply the demand with the starter packs.

Another proposal would be to lower the Cell-C to Cell-C sms rate over week-ends to 5c per sms. The Teens and younger generation will take to it like a Duck to water. However the R2 a meg data charge is still a major problem in the Teen market that needs reviewing.

Peak call rates Cell-C to Cell-C should also be given some consideration as the high rate of 6c per SECOND peak time is a problem. Both MTN and Vodacom offer 5c per Second on peak calls. Maybe Cell-C should introduce 2c per second across all calls Cell-C to Cell-C peak time.

Guys and Dolls

Please do post effective Criticism.

Maybe the Guys and The Board at Cell-C will Listen

I think its a rather good idea. Also I dont see why CellC dont drop their GPRS and EDGE prices to the same as Virgin mobile?

The one problem I see with the lower call and SMS rates is that there would be no point for someone to get a contact other than getting a phone and making it easier to pay off and also not having the inconvienience of having to recharge each time they run out of air time.

Maybe only lower the prices drastically for contract users and lower the prices slightly for pre paid users? If you can manage to advertise lower GPRS/EDGE prices compared to Vodacom and MTN then all the teens and people (well, most of them) who use MXIT and people who use their phone for GPRS/EDGE often will definatly change to CellC.

If you decide to do so you MUST advertise on TV how much they can end up saving by using your service instead of Vodacom or MTN.

wot - good idea

Hey

Good idea...

I have 2 cellc contracts... control chat 400 and casual chat 100.

On my control chat (no joke) ive only been able to call once or twice since the offer is out. I always get " network busy "

on the other hand at the same time with my casual chat 100 i can call.

I also noticed my airtime on the control chat actualy got less when i phoned - so is it free or not. No one at cellc can tell me why.

In any event.. if they can be more competitive during all off peak hours it would be great.

If you take it i get R470 airtime... but the calls are @%%!@#!@#$ very expensive at all hours... and on weekends i cant phone my self (wifes using casual chat 100) so what is the point realy.

Anyway - thats my 2 c

Ciao

Cell-C Gives us Feedback

Hi People,

I have just received a call from the Cell-C Customer service Department informing me that this suggestion has been escalated to the guys at the Strategy Department.

So maybe someone is listening after all.
