Google around and see what coupons you can get for any and all of the above providers before making a decision. These VPS providers often run pretty significant discount promotions.

Cheapest in ZA is host1plus.

Just remember that it's OpenVZ virtualization so you won't be able to run things like docker containers (kernel version is too old on this virtualization platform).

What do you want to run?

Great little server, never paid a cent for 2 years used for "linux distros" and hosting of projects, can't get anymore.
Hetzer Dedi
Latest dedicated server, expensive but at 6TB storage, 3770 and 20TB bandwidth for 25 euro I couldn't resist. used for "linux distros", game hosting, Hentai@Home :whistle:
Time4VPS Storage
Was recommended by friend, can apparently do torrents but I only use it for Hentai@Home, got it on a bi-annually deal last month.

Well I'm sorted for now. Went with host1plus ZA @ 6 months
Needed it for a seedbox. Loaded QuickBox.io on and off we go.

Have an Azure and Amazon instance for my nonsense play.
Haven't seen the Hetzer Dedi boxes @Noah. Link?

Budget wise anything R150-200pm. Less would be nice :p but moving away from my put.io instance which I was paying R220pm for in any case so :\

Seedbox as mentioned below. Cheap and reliable are the features I need :D
OT: Could I prod you about the DNS proxy you had going?

oooh, good luck with that. Usually providers will terminate your account immediately if they find out you're using the bittorrent protocol. I can almost guarantee you that if you read their T&Cs there will be a clause stating same.

Host1Plus is cool. I have my seed box and VPN with them. Had Squid setup and they told me to secure it.

Out of interest, where is your VPS being hosted?

If locally, if Multichoice's Ultimate Cyber Security Specialist IIIV wants it could go to court to get a subpoena, get your VPS details, find out it is being hosted by Host1Plus, who'll then have to give up your details :D

Hetzner will have a hernia if you torrent.

I'd suggest getting a dedi (then you can run other items) with someone who doesn't care e.g. Kimsufi or online.net (both in France).

As for DNS - its a cat and mouse game so its pretty much pointless as a hobbyist. You can however look at things like dockerflix, netproxy or some such project.

Simples, get a seedbox somewhere where they literally give the middle finger to DMCA type requests (Romania springs to mind). France isn't bad in this regard either (OVH probably host over 70% of the worlds seedboxes if I had to guestimate).
