E5v2-SAT-1-16 Intel Xeon E5-1620v2 4c/8t 3.7 GHz/3.9 GHz
16GB DDR3 ECC 1600 MHz
SoftRaid 2x2TB SATA3
Up to 16 IP's (first IP free then once of setup cost per IP of €2.00 thereafter)
Location: Beauharnois (BHS) in Canada, and Roubaix (RBX), Gravelines (GRA) and Strasbourg (SBG) in France.
€29.99 EXCL VAT

NOTE: You need to provide proof of address / ID and then they'll remove EU VAT as we don't pay EU VAT in ZA.

I'm thinking of grabbing one of these and a) either letting my Kimsufi box lapse or b) keep it as a backup box.

This is too cheap considering you can stick VMWare / Proxmox / or other virtualization platforms on it due the 16 IP's you have access too...

Thoughts?

I'll stick with my Hetzner box. Only have a single ipv4 IP but their service is good.

I tried OVH a few years ago and it wasn't a pleasant experience (coming from Hetzner).

I've had both OVH (Kimsufi) and online.net boxes and I like the French location. Works well from here.

I haven't had any issues with OVH's network so far, so I'm giving it a go.

I think i'll just chuck VMWare on it for ease of upgrade path / use - possibly Proxmox if i'm brave.

Fully agree with all points, Hetzner also does have a poorer network compared to OVH. (in my opinion)

I'm using NAT on my Hetzner box to get around only having a single IP. Also using vhosts on a reverse proxy for all http stuff. Not great having a single point of failure but none of my stuff is mission critical.

If anyone's interested. I ordered and it got provisioned within 2 days. I've ordered the 16IP's (@ 32EU once off and i'm installing ESXI 6.5 to run my VM's).
