Cheaper iPad 3 in 2011 a possibility

I believe you're wrong saying that the iPad2 has a high entry point for a tablet. Previously it was stated in myBB that Android based tablets are more expensive than the iPad2.
 
If this is the case, the iPad 3 could launch at the current generation iPad 2 price point, which is already quite high when compared to the competition.

Eh? What competition? The iPad 2 is among the cheapest full-featured branded tablets in SA right now. The 16GB WiFi is retailing for like R4300 , the Samsung Galaxy tablets are nowhere near that price point. The Asus is the same price , if not more expensive , so it's debatable who exactly is cheaper than the iPad 2 right now.

If the iPad 2.5 / 3.0 launch at current price points, which is about R5000-R6000 for the "sweet spot" models , then it will still be significantly cheaper than any of the new Android tablets coming out. Hell, the new Samsing Galaxy tabs (8.9" etc) are most likely going for R8000+ when it launch!

Maybe overseas the pricing are similar or something, but certainly not here. Core seem to have turned the tables on the retail market here or something, i was going android 100% but then looked at the prices and decided somewhere i'm getting ripped off with the Android tablet pricing.

Was thinking of getting a Galaxy Tab 10.1.. Can land them here for R4900..

But if the apple's are gonna be cheaper.. its a really tough choice......
