Cheapest 1TB drive

I got my Vantec NexStar3 from digital addiction a few months back, paid like R300+, USB2+eSATA.

No complain so far.

where can i find a dual external enclosure from? Must be really cheap. I have 2 sata hard drives n dont wanna buy two separate basing enclosures.

Wow thanks. The fact that it's 5400rpm is fine, since it'll only be used as an external drive. Do you think I should worry that it only has a one year warranty? Unless Take2 misquoted that?
Its one year warranty with Take 2, I think after 1 year if you have problems you need to contact samsung themselves, It seems their warranty is 5 years but I cant confirm that though and im not sure how it works locally (but it should be the same). I just bought one from take 2 and peak data transfer is around 80mb/s, but it does vary. But for an external you'll never even reach its minimum transfer speed. So i definitely recommend it.
Here for more warranty info: http://www.samsung.com/in/support/repair/servicePolicyTerms.do#11

Thats actually a damn good price...

*MUSTN'T BUY THEM*...... i'm trying to save money atm ffs

I'll never have enough storage space...

And thats fscking scary... even for me.

"Data expands to fill the space available for it"

just like "disposable income will be disposed of"

The Samsung 1.5Tb HDD's go cheap here in Durban. R899 at PC Zone and R929 at Mitabyte. This was a week or two ago, no idea if they still have stock though.

This Vantec enclosure is lovely. It is cheap and works very well.

Just checked the latest PCZone ad in the Sunday Tribune, it is R899.
The ad on their site is last weeks.

You mean R637.26. Don't forget the VAT. I don't like ads that don't include VAT. It's also the 5400RPM drive. Suppose that's a good price for the 5400rpm, but I prefer 7,200.
