Hey all,

I'm looking at getting the cheapest 3G enabled handset on prepaid available from either voda,mtn,8ta,cell c or virgin.

OC, kindly pointed me to the Vodafone V845 which is a great handset and is 3G enabled. Unfortunately it's too high-endf for my needs: touch screen, android OS etc - so its great value for money if you're in the market for that.

Anyone know of cheap cheap 3G enabled handsets available for around R500?

Ta.

Sorry to break it to you meneer...but you aint gonna get a 3G phone for R500.00. At least not that I can see on my price list. Vodafone V845 is gonna be your best bet from Vodacom me thinks.

I don't suppose you would consider second hand?

You can very often pick up 3G/HSDPA enabled Samsung's or older Nokia's at Cash Crusaders, sometimes even in boxes and even smartphones!

They do offer 6 month warrantys on the handsets(not the battery).

Yeah second hand is an option i suppose. I saw a PEP ad last night advertising a 3G handset for R499 from Cell C - the F250 i think it's called. You guys know anything about this handset? Its not he Samsung F250 but a Cell C branded handset...

2nd hands ur best option.check on gumtree or bidorbuy

This. For the life of me I can't dig up any info on it, but Cell C claim it is a 3G phone. I don't know if you'll be able to tether to a PC. Presumably because it doesn't seem to be a browser or email capable phone!
