Happened to me once. I had to disable something in the WiFi settings that DC's the phone if the WiFi signal wasn't good enough.

It gives me a MAC address that differs from the MAC address on my HTC TYTN 1 which can connect, would that be the issue maybe?

The MAC address is unique to a device.

Thanks guys.

It seems I lost the username and password to my Netgear Router (I put it in a safe place), so kilo and I tried a teamview and will do one today to see if there is a file on my pc with the info in, if that don't work then it will have to be a resetting of the router.

What did you do? Did the wi fi work on the phone, as we are struggling with it?

Do you have the password for the SSID on the router?
Are you using the same password for the SSID on the 858 that you're using for the HTC?
(This is not the same password used to access the router's web-page settings.)

kilo said I must delete the HTC wi fi settings and reinstall to test the wi fi and will do that in a minute, I did find the following info http://forum.vodafone.ie/index.php?/topic/7915-vf858-wifi-problem/ which talks about the same issue but they are overseas by the looks of the members addresses.

Went to buy school shoes for my son on Thursday at Shoe City. I picked up one of their flyers as they sell phones too. They got the 858 on special for R799. Offer ends 31 Jan. That is probably the cheapest you will get.

That phone is one weird little phone indeed but damn impressive.

I need a smartphone that is not branded. Any suggestions? Under R1000.

The vodafone 858 is a smartphone ranging from R600 to R900 if you shop around, Game had it for R799 though it was marked as R999 on the display. Also if you put on the Cyanmod it's unbranded ;-)

Hi guys, see the HTC-Wildfire goes for R 1499, is this a good phone for its price ? I'm thinking of getting it today.

A friend of mine has that phone. She likes it, apart from the slow factor. It clocks a mere 600-odd MHz.

It seems reasonably priced for a andriod, wanted to get the Samsung galaxy Y but that seems a bit to expensive.

Also to consider is the LG Optimus One being advertised on the VC site @R999. Seems to be a good buy.
