Hi Guys,
I am thinking to get a phone with the following requiremets.
HSDPA, WI-FI, GPS. So far i found NOKIA E72. So some questions regarding the phone.
1. Does this phone support UMTS 900 to use with cell c new 3G network?
2. Does the GPS come with south african maps.
3. where can i find the cepest contract for this phone?
4. Do you recommend any other phone than this for the above requirements?

Thanks

I recommend the Nokia 5800, it has all the bells and whistles you are looking for. Got one for myself and my fiancé. The phone is available on a Topup R275 and above but you can get it all the way from a weekender contract I am sure.

Don't know about the nokia 5800, on E72 you get all the maps for free, you just need to DL updates at times.

From what i remember the price for the entry level contract was in the region of R269. I took a higher contract. Got mine in may.

For up to date pricing it might be best to contact the SP's & see what they offer.

Imho the 5800 cannot be compared with the E72. Business phone(e72) compared with a music phone(5800)? If u want a solid phone that is good with e mails, atkes good pictures, and can edit and view documents then go for the e72, the 5800 is basically a musoc phone

Thanks Guys. I have just compared two phones Nokia 5800 and e72. I see features wise E72 is better than 5800. One of the main differences are HSDPA 10.2 in E72 and 3.6 in 5800. And the other difference is the camera, eventhough camera is not important for me. Camera on E72 is 5Mp and on 5800 is 3.15. I think i will go for E72 unless if there is big price difference.

Still one question, are the maps free for life time?

Yep, free ovimaps for life, and it works well, howevr the smaller screen of the e72 will be noticable when using the navigation, not unusable, just not as nice as a full touch screen. I have a e72 and dont regret it for one minute six months later.....u wont be making a mistake

Thanks. I will only use the GPS once in a while that too i depend on the voice prompts than on the screen. I am definately going for E72. I have found e72 on weekender with just R200 once of payment. Does anyone come across anything cheaper than this?
