My phone looks like it is dying on me at the moment - if I can't get an emergency repair will need to buy a temporary phone for a little while. The V360 seems to be the best/cheapest EDGE option mentioned on this forum so far - an international forum I visited mentioned an LG phone that is cheaper but also does EDGE. As usual, I can't find it now... :(

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I had a "Cannot charge" message on my V3 which looked pretty terminal from reports I picked up after Googling. Turns out that it was to with software - I was trying to charge from the USB port of a PC with no drivers loaded for the phone.

I bought a spare USB cable with "free" software - and the phone charges after the driver has been loaded! http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/images/smilies/confused.gif

It charges on my PC at home when it is stopped for the boot loader (before Windows is loaded) and after. No phone software no charging, huh?

Score against Motorola..

I can recommend the V360. I recently bought a MTN branded one from foschini (about R900) and it was unlocked and has worked great with my VM sim. * and it came with a 64mb flash card to boot :) *

V360 it is then. Someone mentioned you could get one for about R750 at Makro, seems the best cash buy.

My V3 is working again, so I'm on GPRS until my contract comes around for renewal in March. I'm waiting for number portability to come through - supposed to be the end of October, should be there by March?

Hi

I read somewhere (can't find it now) that VM is offering the V360 @ R35/month over 24 months. Can anyone (Piesang :) ) confirm this?

Thanx

Akash

I checked a while ago and you could get it for that on their website but you also have to commit to minimum monthly spending of R100 i.e. the V100 plan.
