Hi,
I'm looking for a local, prepaid voip provider with the best rates to SA.
Can someone lead me in the right direction?
Thanks

That would be us........

Send me a PM and I will gladly hook you up with an account. We have traditionally provided companies with voip products AND connections. Not only are we the cheapest for local calls - International we are as well.

Cheap is not always cheap, how's the quality ,

Companies can quote you 10c for a local call but this may be terminating
On an analog line via dsl,
Quality is important then don't look for cheapest

www.voipraider.com

between 8 to 10c (South African cents) per min to SA...depending on exchange rate

Yeh, that's what I have been using up to now.
Maybe it's cos I'm only on semi-unshaped internet, but during the day, voipraider quality has much to be desired.

I recently tried a friend's LOCAL based VOIP account, and during the day, it sounds like a normal phonecall.
That's why I'm specifically asking for a local based voip service

Yep you WILL get issues using voipraider. Their pricing is fantastic I know but the quality leave a lot to be desired.

Using a local provider gives you best possible quality - and you will save on international bandwidth as well which can be an issue if you phone a lot.

try www.wanatel.co.za the local price is 0.39 fixed and 1.25 cell they quality won't disappoint you

Hi,

Wanatel does not charge R0.39 per minute but R0.48 to land lines. The R1.25 to cellphones is correct but a limited time offer. Once you're on board that is likely to change quite quickly again.

www.africanaxess.co.za will get you the best rates and great quality (punt punt). We're busy redesigning the website so don't judge a book by its cover in this case.

the limited offer of wanatel was referring to the change of rates...it doesn't mean that when you sign up the rate will change. its a constant rate the website is also being redesign so you better wait up for the cheapest prepaid rates...be on the watch!!!

Negative, just double checked they now charge to South Africa it used to be free think it changed 4 months ago or so.

South Africa (Landline) 0.117 0.140
South Africa (Mobile) 1.284 1.529

That pricing is in Rands from their website at http://www.12voip.com/en/calling-rates.html#lets

Still a good price though and you can use it with SIP phones or Asterisk.
