Just bought the 8400gs as a temp solution for my qq6600 box too, it cost R399 excluding vat from rectron which is supplier price...

If onboard is lame try and allocate it more ram it should have a setting where you can allocate it more ram, probably max 256 or so....

if its a temp solution, why not get something 2nd hand?
Theres a 7600GS for R500 on bidorbuy...I also saw some 6600GT for R250 on junkmail the other day.
But i dont know how good the 8400GS is actually...maybe it'll whip both those cards...

6600GT and 7600GS will whip the 8400GS. As, quite obviously, will the 7900GTX.

I don't think it's worth it, more a waste of R400. Which games will you be able to play with a 8400GS?

If you have to have something now then definitely go second hand, you'll get a much better card.

dude you could add 3 gb's of ram to that onboard but aint way your going to play cod4 crysis etc with that card

if you wanna play the latest games you need to use something like 8400gs to atleast be able to run the game
