Well, I would never personally use them. I don't think there's much merit in looking for the cheapest solution to anything in particular.

I use domains.co.za for all my hosting needs. Impeccable service and performance.

Yea I use them (domains.co.za) for FibreTiger hosting really good ! Anyway just moved away from Afrihost !!
 
Just remember, you get what you pay for. So don't come crying to this forum about how your business is suffering because you can't send out mails due to it being flagged as spam

Hetzner closing their micro packages, I aint paying R99pm to host a basically just a mailbox basically, so I need to find a new place too.

That happens when you host with Afrihost - most of their IPs are flagged already.
 
Seems there is a need here - I don't mind buying a domains VPS and doing email...

R40 p/m
1GB space for mail and website (basic static template)emails plus forwarders
Backups
IMAP

Will need 120 clients to make it worthwhile though.

Go source 120 people and I will build it
 
Just use established, well-run, professional email services. $1 would get you 1 POP account with 10GB space and unlimited Aliases with support (not to mention spam free servers, no downtime because they have hundreds of servers etc.) and spam protection that is a bit better than Gmail's

No need to build your own. Just don't expect Ocean basket to have the best steak on earth. Separate your services. Hosting websites? Use a host that specializes in HOSTING WEBSITES (and doesn't have other services like ADSL/Wifi and *** like that). Want email? Use an email provider that does just that (or email, very very well and not the CPanel bull****). Want internet? Use an ISP that supplies that for you. But again, don't go to Thailand and search for Ms Right and be surprised her penis is bigger than yours.

I sit with the same problem...massive increase from them on their current Micro package!

DO NOT GET A POP ACCOUNT - this is 2018, just dont.
Bet you my WHM instance is more reliable than the whole of Afrihost, just make sure it's hosted by a real host like domains.
 
Mate of mine took over my website into his current hosting package at Hetzner - he pays a "flat fee" and I simply pay for the yearly renewals.
Suits me.
This has been a long time coming from Hetzner though
 
Same question as OP.

WTF is up with this being so expensive for so little in return (100mb wtf is this 1998)?

Gmail can offer 10+ gb for free...
