Cheapest uncapped ADSL accounts

Things has surely changed over the past few years...remember the days when you paid R500+ for a 192kbps line with 2gb cap?
 
A table with prices and T's & C's would be so much easier to read...

Geez... I was too young to remember those slow speeds but I can imagine how slow 192kbps mush have been, getting a headache just thinking a about it. :erm:

192Kbps is fast... compared to the 14.4Kbps my dad had back in the day.

I still remember going from 56k dial-up to ADSL 512Kbps, it was like WTF this is too fast man. Now 10Mbps is starting to feel slow. :(
 
Go Cybersmart. I am on their uncapped package and the service is just fine. On the home package the user will be slightly restricted if doing excessive multi-files and multi-connection downloads at once for an extended period, but this restriction is reduced if you refrain from excessive downloading over a couple of days, which in my opinion is fair. But i must make mention that i have also chosen to go the business ADSL route on a 1MB business ADSL package from Cybersmart, and I am getting maximum speeds ALL the time no matter what i do or when. At just R499 including my line and uncapped subscription. i was not able to find a better option anywhere.
 
a table comparing 1mb would be much better ;) ...
as I am currently in the market for 1 of those accounts, having cancelled my mweb account last month :)
 
There are also “surf only” uncapped ADSL accounts available from ISPs such as Openweb and Axxess for below R100 per month, but these accounts do not allow for large downloads during normal hours.

These accounts do not allow for large downloads at all!
 
Speaking purely as an end user I still find myself amazed by how little we're paying for something we thought we would never have in South Africa a few years ago :)

I must agree with one of the earlier comments when it comes to these roundups:

If you are going to compare pricing make sure it's apples with apples, because a product with a relaxed AUP and no throttling mechanism is probably going to cost you a little more :D
 
im looking to migrate my ISP away from telkom, on a 1mg line uncapped. cybersmart seems quite cheap, any advice from users in cape town? how has their service been? bearing in mind im post telkom so used to AWESOME service lol

Technically, Telkom is *not* charging for the same service, as currently there are no actual Do Uncapped bundles. Yet.

MyBB will probably have to re-write this article next week ...

and mweb dont have 384mbps enymore
they only have 1/4/10 mbps atm

we will have to w8 for the 2mbps :)

Please can we have a 1mbps table comparing prices for bundled and unbundled and a notes column indicating how the shaping is done.
 
and you had the R7 weekender so you dial once for R7 from Friday @7pm to Monday 06:59 before one disconnects and hope your line does not drop ... those were the days ... :)

Im so tired of reading all these "Uncapped prices plummeting" updates because they never tell the entire story. Because you know those "great" deals always refer to shaped uncapped accounts - been there done that, moved on. Give me uncapped and UNSHAPED ADSL for R200 p/m and then I might consider it. Stop with all these half truths.
