Cheapest uncapped ADSL prices in SA

I have never had something like that happen to me. Wifi just works perfectly all the time. You never even think about it, much you you don't think about the air your breath. But then again, that is MWeb. I can't vouch for other internet providers.

Are you sure you weren't using bittorrent or other services that are associated with piracy? Because I imagine any ISP would shut the pipes down pretty quickly if that was the case

Generally (unless you get a great deal somewhere), you get what you pay for with ADSL. With bandwidth, cheap does not often mean better. To me quality is more important than quantity. My household averages around 250GB a month and I would rather purchase good unshaped (not all unshaped products are equal) than uncapped bandwidth.

Not the way it is managed, with throttling, shaping and FUP/AUP. Therefore I think MANAGED is more accurate than UNCAPPED.

I do believe what you're talking about - unshaped, uncapped, uneverything - is "Unmetered". "Uncapped" is the right term for what we have with ADSL here. These are the terms the industry has always used for as long as I can remember; the fact the ISPs have done a horrible job educating the public doesn't make them the wrong terms. It makes the ISPs deceitful bastards

I agree. I have moved to a capped account, and totally loving the quality and consistency. Won't move back even if it was cheaper.

I've never noticed any throttling or shaping. As for a fair usage policy, I cant imagine any service that wouldn't be subject to fair usage rules. Otherwise you will have people abusing the service

I can confirm that there is definite shaping on MWEB, mainly on torrenting, but that is still shaping. They are not shaping based on illegal content - torrenting Linux ISOs etc get shut down just as much as anything else.

Not sure what your line speed is, but I am pretty sure you'll be unhappy after hitting the FUP "cap" (120GB for 4Mbps service if I remember correctly) - not an issue for me as I don't burn that much, but it does mean the term uncapped would be less accurate than "managed"

Uncapped should really define a link whose speed is purely affected by contention and not any further manipulation, anything other than this should really be called a managed service.
