Hi guys

What do you think is the cheapest 4mb after hours uncapped solution?

Uncapped during the day but rate limited, I only use the internet from about 6 in the evenings :)

Yes, that is the cheapest. I have been using the OpenWeb Uncapped Express for R1299.99 which claims to be an "unshaped" option. Dunno if there is really much difference. I have yet to try the Axxess option, but I should just to see if it gives me the same speeds. I can usually grab 800 Gb or more in a month. About 15 to 18 overnights and about 80 Gb on weekends.

and how much do you invest into harddrives? ;)

That's the thing about this backwards South African thinking. If you're able to pull 800GBs a month you really don't need to save everything. Say you're into movies- you can watch and delete, if you want to see it again you just download it again.

I could get by with a 1TB hdd, saving the classics and deleting the rest.

Lol Garyvdh, why pay the extra R300?

Because I started with OpenWeb a few months before Axxess released their product... and I am not sure that Axxess' speeds are much better than OpenWebs. The OpenWeb product is supposed to be unshaped and the Axxess is shaped. But I am willing to give the Axxess one a try next month and will report my experience.

Both of the products are the same. They are just resale of IS.
We also sell them:
R 979 - 4MB After Hours Uncapped ADSL Fibre
R 879 - 4MB After Hours Uncapped ADSL Satellite

There is no point comparing the products as they are identical. They are just sold by the ISPs at whatever markup they decide.
The rest is just about the billing and customer service, which debit order and usually a simple one-time setup kinda takes care of.
IS then does the rest!

Hope that clears everything up guys

Guys does the R999 EXCLUDE your ADSL 4meg line rental??

Yes it does... unfortunately.
The Telkom charges are on top of this, as is your own router cost.

How much is the line rental if you have an analog line? (4Mbps)?
Can you do that as well?
Which router do you folks recommend?

A 4meg line on its own is R413pm. You also have to have the basic phone line which is R135pm (iirc, it's around there). There are installation charges associated with both lines but you can choose self install on the ADSL line (free) and Closer option 2 for the home line includes free installation (R170pm can be canceled the following month).
