Checkers Sixty60 under fire

What is disturbing is that you just accept it and aren't prepared to put a stop to it because it's convenient to have your groceries delivered. Just roll over when told to. Until they move onto your pavement. Too late then to stop standards dropping.

They are not giving me a reason, to, now, or in the past.

The same for landlords ...

Too many businesses, expect the status quo to stay the same. A lot of them have made bad gambles based on that assumption.

I don't make use of the delivery types, nor do I buy from the places they work for. Except on the odd occasion.

That is, I am not a Mall rat. I prefer the smaller centers, and the smaller shops.

I don’t know about the ownership structure of Sixty60 as it pertains to vehicles but what I do know is that most Uber drivers don’t own the cars they use and as such having them declared as employees and not independent contractors seems a stretch. Uber have what is called Uber Fleet and the owners have multiple vehicles and drivers registered under said profile by which they can manage and monitor the drivers performance. The owner is paid and he then pays the drivers (take for the week - cash trips - car rental fee). The car rental fee for Uber Go and X is in region of R2500. It’s quite lucrative. It’s 10K turnover per month per vehicle for the owner.

Driver's licence checks would be nice.

Latest incident: about to turn left into a driveway with indicator on. Delivery numpty comes whizzing by on the left from behind, almost t-boning vehicle. 90% of these guys are taxi-level morons on the road.

This happens to me almost every day. Middle class numpty pulls into the gap (from the left) between me and the next car just as the light turns green. So I accelerate but then have to apply brakes not to hit the middle class cowboy in his leather outfit. This never happens with Cape Town delivery drivers who are very cautious or drive bikes which lack this level of power. YMMV but for me the bulk of the motorbike problems are middle class riders and the lack of policing and heavy fines given to these fools.

I am not going to forfeit that convenience to save a mall which might or might not have an impact on something else.

Well in terms of the law they are legally allowed to drive/ride what their license determines.

Perhaps it is a government problem and why point at Checkers especially when in a interview you are also not allowed to ask certain questions because of the nanny state protection laws..........

Yes these fvckers also irritate the living shyte out of me but I still utilise the service so you can't have everything.

If you read the article, some African states automatically issue a bike licence when you get a car licence - With no training or test. And some of the employed drivers rent the bikes out to illegals who might not even have a licence so they can skive off and do other things while earning money from the illegal.

As stated, in terms of the SA law they are legally allowed to drive a bike if their foreign license states they have a valid license hence my comment - this is a government issue not a Checkers issue.

Obviously there are time and residency restrictions for them to get a SA license.

how do they manage to take there 125 spoogies on the highway is another thing to me its like they are oblivious to the danger of dying on their scooters. An they drive like suicidal maniacs like brah you are on a motorbike, if you get into a collision your life is forfeit not the aunty in her bakkie

If it's not illegal, it will be done.

That's the problem in SA. There has been a major decline in ethical behaviour. Just because something is not illegal, it doesn't mean it's ethical.
Driving on the N1 with a 125cc is not illegal or unethical.
