Dealing with the Vodacom call centre has proved to be an absolutely horrendous experience. Is there a “quick and easy” (by Vodacom standards) self-help service for checking the status of one’s new contract order? I know that the Vodacom Shop has a tracking service, but said website has been down since I ordered my new contract, and I’m not sure whether that can be used to track telephonic orders anyway.

Truth be told, I have no idea what’s potting with my order. I originally called them to order my phone around a week and a half ago and was told to call them back in half an hour to see whether I was approved. It took another 8 calls, being transferred between departments, being transferred back to the menu twice by clueless consultants etc. before someone was able to tell me that this was false and I would in fact need to wait 48 hours to see whether I was approved.

Long story short, after a Hellopeter complaint, I received an email a little over 72 hours later stating that I was approved and needed to call the cell centre to finalise my order. I did so, and 4 calls later gave up. Eventually the consultant who originally placed my order phoned me back and finalized the order.

The next day I received a call from a consultant wanting to know which address to deliver the phone to, which I had confirmed the previous day with the consultant. After giving it to her she said that it’s not possible to give delivery instructions to the courier, meaning that I have to rely on sheer luck that I am at home when the phone arrives, because I work half day and am therefore at the office in the morning and at home in the afternoon. It's beyond me how one can’t specify to the courier company that they should deliver it to venue X between a certain time and venue Y if it is any other time of the day.

I contacted Vodacom email support on Friday and they promised to have the relevant people contact me, but I’m still waiting…

Anyway, I’ve yet to receive any official confirmation of my order in “hard copy” (via email/SMS), apart from the Hellopeter support team emailing me to tell me I've been approved, and they clearly don’t know what they’re doing with the delivery, so any advice on how to sort this mess out?

If only MTN’s iPhone contracts were as reasonable…dealing with them has been such a pleasure over the past year.
