Cheques when last did you use them ?

I'm surprised the hipsters aren't using cheques now that the rest of the world has moved on. Think of them as the organic and artisanal version of EFTs.

If you were in SA I'd say that person was trying to avoid tax as its easy to cash a cheque at supermarkets, etc

nah its more a case of "but I've always received rent via cheque". Ended up settling that bill with a mix of Swift payment & cash. They had to consult the chief accountant on how to deal with the swift. :D

Then again lots of contactless cards in use as well & the EFTs are instant so its not like the fin system is outdated.
