Hi,
Is there anyone here that plays Chess. If so could you recommend a good online site to play at. Ideally free but if a subscription is required and the service is decent that would be ok too.

Skype lol! Me and some friends play chess over skype sometimes. Good fun!
 
http://www.chesscube.com is not bad either and is free ...I have played there for a while now and while it only has a web interface it is fast and easy to us.

For more competitive play try http://www.chessclub.com The best place to play, but a high standard. So unless you are strong (have experience playing tournaments and the like) it may be a waste of money. It costs around $ 50 a year I think...

Absolutely.

I love chess, I've played it ever since I can remember. I play almost every day, whenever I can rope the girlfriend in. Sometime I play on my own against myself. :o

I haven't really tried the online versions, I don't know. I see the game as an 'off the computer' kind of thing. I'll check out some of those sites now, see what I think...

Used to play pretty well, if I can say so myself... but need to get my skills back up to scratch...
 
I kind of like Linux's Brutal Chess though... has a decent set of levels available.
 
Best one i have found is chesspark.com very good and you can play grandmasters etc and it has a chat..so ja it rocks ;)
