Hi guys, just wanted to find out your takes on buying a chevy spark 2009 model with 109000km I'm paying 30k for it and the car looks very clean in and out including engine. I just wanted to know How's these cars for Reliability as well as maintenance costs. And whats the common things to look at in these cars before buying.

I'd say 3 out of 5. Two people I know of, had the top blown on their Spark. 1 was a friend, he had to wait long for a new engine to come from overseas. Repaired under warranty.
Must say, he still has his Spark, 3 years later. He can't stop going on about the awesome fuel consumption, too.

That's my concern that if the engine goes. I don't mind a Lil extra on fuel costs on a different vehicle as long as the car itself is cheap to maintain along with getting the parts easily

I can stretch my budget to about 45000 but what cars would you guys recommend for everyday use. My main concern is maintenance costs. Fuel is not so much of a concern as long as the engine is no bigger than 1.6

Honda Jazz, Honda Ballade

EDIT: Oh, are you talking about that old shape Chev Spark(the Daewoo Matiz?)? Do they have the same engine as the new look?

OP you are asking for trouble with GM out of the country parts are going to get increasingly rare . Not worth the potential headache IMO

We've had one for four years, yearly service and a new battery is all I've done

The old 2009 spark isn't really like the sparks you get today. Unless you are referring to the new spark which I think came out that year. Though these cars have a timing chain. With gm out and all I'm unaware of what the future will hold with parts and the availability of such.
