Chevrolet Spark 2005: Starting issue

My Chev Spark has a problem -when riding it slowly or like an old woman it rides fine but give petrol too fast and it is almost as if the choke is activated or it is flooding -all the usual suspects are okay ,the choke is working fine (put it on a machine )car starts and revs without any flat spot AND if you get it up to speed it rides like a bomb -changed spark plugs and fitted a new coil pack to test if it was perhaps a spark problem -you can also say it feels like a high rev breakdown on a spark plug

which year model ?

tried changing the spark leads ?

"AND if you get it up to speed it rides like a bomb" - what does this mean ? Do you struggle to change gears or use the clutch ? after getting to 5th does it cruise fine ? (70-100kmph)

other issues to look at perhaps after a quick google :

  • Bad throttle position sensor
  • Ignition system problem
  • Fuel system problem
  • Vacuum leak
  • Bad accelerator system (carburetor models)
Other components or systems can generate hesitation problems as well, although not as often.

Regardless of the system causing the problem, your engine is dealing with one of two basic issues:

  • it is getting too much air, or
  • it is getting too little fuel.

*NB : get a OBD2 device and hook it up if you have that under your dashboard, it will instantly scan and tell you whats wrong.

I wonder if the OBD2 bluetooth scanner can pick it up ? "faulty ecu" code or whatever ?

would be interesting

nope, obd scanner is useless here, tried that already, shows no codes

actually found a good youtube video that explains a lot of these "weird" problems with computers in modern cars.
I personally can attest to some of these problems being 100% right, more computers=more problems=not getting fixed right the first time, due to even dealer mechanics treating the job like working at mcdonalds.

You also watch good ol scotty ?

He is right, and ive also always followed that principal when buying "newer" cars. Mo ecu = Mo flashy -> mo problems ... LoL merc and citreon anyone ?

That's why I have these "basic" vehicles. With the Hyundai matrix having the least that could wrong, and its proven to be true. Only changed basics like cambelt and new shock mounts on 206763km

A person only ever really needs a well refined engine and suspension with air-conditioning and a bit of space inside. Thread derailed though ....

could try a spare ECU on and see if it makes a difference ??? Long shot

can bet you problem will go right away, these weird and unsolvable issues are due to one thing and one thing only, computers in cars.
and the need to fuel inject literally every car, as more money for us. as NOBODY can fix it properly.

and your actually wrong, best cars are the most stolen/hijacked ones, like Tazz, Citi Golf, Nissan 1400,old sentra, old Hyundai Accents,
even old Hyundai Elantras, at a stretch VW polo, as there are so many of them.

the Hyundai Matrix, was fuel injected, and that equals trouble when weird stuff starts happening.

and believe me, even when you visit a SPECIALIST in ECU's, you get blank looks,
as thats how cars are designed these days, pay them off, and as soon as the warranty expires, time to throw it away and get another.
symptom of our throwaway society.
