Child seats are now compulsory

This is another unworkable law. What happens with all of those people who have children and no cars? Are they now to stay home with the children until they're old enough for a seat belt or what happens when the children must go for inoculations or other medical needs - do they call an ambulance?

If getting a car seat would cause you to be unable to afford food, you probably couldn't afford the car to begin with. :rolleyes:

Yup, they call an ambulance or buy a car seat for if and when - or they can just sit at the back of a bakkie and all will be fine.
 
Another bad law, like seatbelt law and helmet law.

I heartily approve of those devices, but strenuously oppose making laws about it.

The law will save lives.

Just spend some time in a children's hospital/morge and see how even in minor accidents small unbuckled children turn in to missiles.

Then every law must be fascist - seatbelts, no smoking in buildings, no peeing in public, compulsory education, .....

This isnt aimed at them, and i have no doubt we wont find any baba seats fitted to taxi's for the convenience of the poorer folk who rely on them.
This is just another petty regulation aimed at milking the working middle class of more money in a easy convenient manner.
Child safety is not the issue , its just the usual easy excuse that everybody continues to fall for, hook line and sinker.
Now you are going to find traffic scum hanging around schools, creches, shopping centres and various drop off points trying to score an easy buck instead of being out on the roads doing a proper bloody job :mad:.

Sometimes the law has to step in on behalf of stupid or stubborn people. God knows we have way too many of them around already.

Things are a little more subtle and granular than a simple Either-Or. Not all laws are fascist, and the argument are not hard to grasp and not necessary to rehash here again. But seatbelt laws, no smoking laws, and compulsory education are fascist. No peeing in public is easily handled by indecency and sanitation laws, which are defensible.
 
Just toss the 2 year old into the boot. Problem solved.
