China to censor Internet during Olympics

China spying on Olympics hotel guests-US senator

China has installed Internet-spying equipment in all the major hotel chains serving the 2008 Summer Olympics, a U.S. senator charged on Tuesday.
"The Chinese government has put in place a system to spy on and gather information about every guest at hotels where Olympic visitors are staying," said Sen. Sam Brownback.

Last week we were discussing China taking over Africa...
A taste or peek perhaps of what we face should we be subjected to Chinese rule

I'll be boycotting the Olympics. There's too many things I don't like about the chinese government.

I'm sure my absence will be a huge loss

Well at least they don't invade other countries and screw up the world like others *hint hint*

As will I. My absence won't be a huge loss, but maybe if there's a couple million other people out there doing the same, it will get noticed.

I will also boycott if they continue censoring the internet - no one should have the right to veto what is available for internet users :(

Plenty of warnings that this was going to happen from rights groups but no ..... greed speaks louder it seems. I am very glad to be able to say 'told you so' as I am one that is also boycotting these sham Olympics.

What about Tibet?

Well Tibet is a major atrocity and by no means do I condone what's going on there. However it's so funny how everyone wants to look at China now as such a BIG BAD GUY where as other world powers are committing the same and even WORSE crimes against humanities. The fact is, the world is corrupt plain and simple. A few people boycotting the olympics isn't gonna change the world anyhow, besides it's just a front to shift focus off other stuff happening in the world. Just my 2c for the day :p

everything starts with 'a few people' before becoming a force to be reckoned with .... the end of apartheid started with a few, women being able to vote started with a few, etc etc.

China is such a "big bad guy" along with other countries like America and others.

This thread is about China though -there's really no need to bring America into the discussion here.

China would invade other countries, where it not for the US and USSR (before).
The war between Vietnam and Cambodia (known as Kampuchea under Pol Pot)
was a prime example of Chinese backed Khmer Rouge (those guys who wiped
out 2 million civilians) and Russian backed Vietnam. In the end Vietnam prevailed
and sent the Khmer Rouge packing.

China also supports North Korea which at present actively kidnaps foreigners
and prevents its own people from becoming free.

Then there's TIBET and Dar Fur.

I'm suprised that the IOC is tolerating this. Maybe they should take the Olympic Games away from China.
