China will close down unregistered websites

Haha, the great firewall of china. Man, I dunno which is worse. Telkom or the Chinese Government:)

Anyone heard the info that the government is planning to filter emails or something like that? apparently theyre trying to/have? passed a bill that whenever you send an email, a copy gets cc`d to the government. I dont know how much of this is right, so if anyone knows any info could they please let me know,

dude, i actually didnt think about this until rpm mentioned that all websites are going to have to be possibly bre regsitered in SA.

I wonder waht the legalities to this would be?

Say I have a .co.za but its hosted in the states... would it have to be registered?

Offcourse local websites have to be registered with the relevant domain naming authority as appointed by IANA otherwise how the heck are DNS going to be updated ???.

And unlike China we have a constitution that is worth something which protects your privacy and freedom of speech.

We're not talking about domain name registration, but any South African who creates a website ... this 'rumour' came up as I understand it due to overly broad wording in the draft convergence bill recently; this was discussed here.
