Chinese Tablet Buyers Guide.

Sigh

My teclast tablet was acting strange the last two weeks......found out at the start of the week the micro USB port got damaged and as a result only charged when lying down flat on a surface, not good enough as I keep my tablet plugged in as the power can go out here at any time, especially when I watch at night. Decided to take it to a repair shop, local Pakistani shop, should have known better, they managed to repair it with a new mirco USB port. But some how they fked it up, it no longer connect to OTG or PC. Thankfully I have a 128gig sd card so now it is the mission of copying over what I want to watch, for the next couple of weeks while I order and wait for the new tablet.

Will pass on the tablet to my mom for use, as she broke her 10 inch tablet screen a few months back, getting a replacement screen/digitizer is a mission. She doesn't connect to PC or copy data so no biggie. The tablet will be perfect for her use.

I assume a proper techie would have tested the pinouts and made sure data connections and stuff worked as should. However at R250.00 to repair I am not going to cry over spilled milk, but I should have known better.

Placed my order on sunsky will see how it goes, went with buff express. I was undecided about which tablet to get, it was ultimately a toss up between the m40 and the P20HD, the big issue was with regards to where the type c connection was on the the tablet, with either the p20hd and m40 was on the the side, while the m40 is faster and more space and ram. I can get a decent 128gig sd card cheaply locally to add, while copying speed will be slower, it makes the smaller space moot.

So went with the Teclast P20HD, I would like to do an intel 12th gen upgrade as well. Happy with the choice, not the one I wanted but it will do, the pc upgrade is more needed.

Isn't competing priorities or wants/needs a pain?

My case its

upgrade monitor vs upgrade CPU and motherboard.

I bought the M40SE from Sunsky last year, but used Aramex after my first tablet from Banggood was stolen in the Buffalo delivery and they did not even respond to any of my enquiries.

Will wait and see. I don't expect issues, as I paid via paypal, which means I am covered, and can easily log a refund if there is issues. When buying internationally, always use a payment method that can be reversed, ALWAYS. the best is always paypal.

Yeah, luckily I got the Banggood refund quickly, but not the fees paid to buffalo for clearance.

How long for your shipping and delivery ? Gearbest liked to take their time, first time ordering from sunsky is it any different ?
Ordered on 11 September last year, Sunsky had it shipped by the 14th. I paid clearance at the end of September for Aramex, but their first notice went to spam so I lost a week there. It was delivered on 6 October.

I added the email as part of my address, so there is no delays and stuff.....With gearbest I forgot to add it and as such I had to phone DHL at the time, give all the information and stuff for clearance.

It shipped this morning, day and a half turn around isn't bad at all. So I expect it from monday 28th of feb +-. ordering the TPU cover now, didn't want to add it to the order as it drastically increases shipping costs. Shipping just the cover the costs 5$ shipping, ship it with the tablet and the shipping costs increases by 11$. Stupid I know could have done tpu cover on the same day. But didn't know if they would have stock of the P20HD, could have gotten a generic case here but meh, teclast TPU covers are exceptional.

Cool, I couldn't find a cover for the M40SE when I ordered so got a generic from Takealot. It doesn't fit very well and it interferes with the power and volume buttons. A dedicated cover will be much better.

Yeah those tpu covers is great. Hard lesson learned with port placement and such, extremely happy, that I have a type c port now, and it is on the side. Real pity that the mirco USB port broke on the m20, and that did such a kak job fixing it. Found out two days ago both camera's are dead as well.

Technically I have an invoice hand written one, so I could if I wanted to go to small claims court and nail their ass for the piss poor job.

So I made some discoveries. The mofo's used a heat gun to repair, so I assume they dislodged a small transistor, or damage the data trace on the motherboard, only logical explanation why data connection no longer works, additionally I found out the camera's don't work neither front or back, the guy mentioned some thing with regards to changing the port can causes issues with the camera. I found it strange and shrug it off as saying some thing stupid. Turns out he was lying through his teeth to save his own ass, when I would eventually use the camera's I might see they aren't working and assume that it was the result of the port swap.

Also hoping I am not technically inclined. So I popped the cover and noticed that, because of the metal back plate, most of the board, battery ect is covered with tape to prevent shorts and ****, to get to the board you need to remove one section of the tape to get to the ribbon cables for the power and volumes rockers and also the camera, the MOFOS ripped the ribbon cable for the cameras, instead of leaving the ribbon cable ripped, they ripped the rest of the cable clean off.

I have a good mind and take them to small claims court, or giving them a piece of my mind when I go into town, how the FK do you screw up this badly.

Those cellphone repair shops seem to do this more often. They did it with my wife's old Samsung 8", they repaired the charge port, but eventually the screen started to go rainbow. They somehow burnt the cable

What was the end result. ? Did you go beat them up, sue, pitch forks and torches in hand ?

Managed to fiddle with the USB port a bit and the PC is now picking up the tablet and I can explore the onboard storage at least. Need to test the data transfer, but got that back at least. Can't wait for my new tablet to arrive. :p

Took it back and told them to fix it at their own expense, as initially they were like no they didn't break it. I was like here is the receipt showing that 2 days ago I picked this up after you repaired the port and that the damage on the screen could only be caused by taking apart not any external force.
They at first tried to deny it and said they won't repair it, so I stood outside the shop and turned every person away who was coming into the shop, telling them that rather not come here, they don't repair phones but make them worse and then deny it. Was about half an hour, they tried to intimidate me with one of their "cousins" a bigger pakistani guy, but I was still 5cm taller then him and I just looked at him smiled and said do you really want to come at me in the middle of a shopping center? Eventually security came and I was refunded the amount for the repair on the USB port and it was enough to replace the screen at another shop. I did look behind my shoulder while I was leaving though.
