I am in India and I see chipped Wii consoles sell for R3000 - is this a good price?

Umm, its a good price for a Wii, but a chipped one sounds rather dodgy

MMmmm.. chipped how, what kinda chip ahs been put into it? Also, chipping done in India. 3K is cheap, considering the shortage, but WHY are they that cheap?

The only thing I can think of is that it woulda been chipped to play pirated gamecube discs? Can it play pirated Wii discs?

If you're in india, rather pick yourself up a(nother) wife.. it will cost you the same prolly and at least you will know what you're getting!!! or a pet lepper (spelling)!!!

Ho hum, 360 and Wii, not in the same category.
Wii = hard to come by worldwide, therefore even harder in SA

It may be less powerful, but its a boatload of fun (try Warioware and you'll understand)

What else you got since the last time I was at your place supes? Sounds like you're not holding back on the game buying side of things!!

hehe, for wii just got warioware, for ps3 got, well alot :)
warioware is so fun, especially after a couple of drinks and hubblies

I'd say R2500 is worth it.

Not a chipped one though. with all the regular flash updates of this gen of consoles, you're just asking to get bricked.

it's def not chipped...legit console. The region locking really annoys me. I'm stuck between a 360 and a Wii...sigh.

lol... the ps3 has confused me, for the first time sony has got rid of the region lock on it's console, (with exception to movies). sony is losing it bully tactics,(the ones that force you to buy there products)

The ps3 doesnt have region lock??

Correct, PS3 games aren't locked, but BR movies are still region locked.

@derekc, tough call, it really depends on what you want to play, what sort of games are you into? The Wii's pretty "party fun" at the moment but lacks breadth of Content, and the obvious - sheer grunt. 360 has a lot more "traditional gaming faire", guns, cars, sports etc.

Simple, current gen consoles have flashable firmware. If you chip it, they'll brick it next time you need to update. And need you will, any new games released "post update" will require the latest firmware.
